AirFuel Alliance Hosts Second Annual Developers Forum for Next Generation Wireless Charging

Program provides education, tools and technical support to accelerate product integration and market adoption of both Magnetic Resonant and RF technology

Shenzhen, CHINA – February 18, 2019AirFuel™ Alliance, the authority on next-generation wireless power technology and standards, is hosting the second annual AirFuel Developers Forum to empower companies around the world to design, develop, and bring to market products with AirFuel Resonant and RF technologies.  The AirFuel Developers Forum will include expert speakers, presentations on key technical topics, and hands-on support to improve collaboration, inspire innovation, and broaden the ecosystem of interoperable products and public infrastructure solutions.  

The 2019 AirFuel Developers Forum will take place on March 12th & 13th at the Hilton Shenzhen Shekou Nanhai in Shenzhen, China and feature speakers from industry leaders Efficient Power Corporation (EPC), Energous, E-ink, IHS Markit, JJPlus, and GaN Systems, to name a few.

Technical Leadership Award

The winner(a) of the first annual AirFuel Alliance Technical Leadership Award will be announced at the 2019 Developers Forum. The Technical Leadership Award recognizes best-in-class contributions to the advancement of wireless power.  Winner(s) are selected by the AirFuel Alliance Board of Directors and represent leaders in growth and innovation on a global scale. Nominations were open to all individuals contributing to the advancement of wireless power technology, and numerous illustrious nominations were received. Award criteria for nominees includes:

  1. Functional impact of the nominated technology and its value in the lives of users;
  2. Level of demonstrated technical innovation;
  3. Level of demonstrated design innovation;
  4. Level of industry leadership when compared to other products/technologies in the marketplace.

Program Highlights

The 2019 Developers Forum will address topics ranging from key performance indicators and good design practices, to frequency selection factors, standards compliance, interoperability testing, regulatory tips and certification. Day One offers attendees an agenda packed with industry heavy-hitters, including:

  • Dinesh Kithany of IHS Markit presenting a wireless power market overview and projections.
  • Neeraj Sahejpal, Senior VP of Product Marketing for Energous, will give an overview of RF Uncoupled technology and debunk common myths about RF.
  • E Ink will share key use cases for their technology and discuss why wireless power is essential for their product portfolio.
  • Paul Wiener of GaN Systems will discuss power amplifier and coil optimization design for large air gap applications.
  • Afternoon technical sessions will include Alex Lidow, CEO and Co-founder of EPC, on Power Electronics, and Jeff Shu of JJPlus (a WiTricity licensee) on Reference Designs.

The 2019 AirFuel Developers Forum is a two-day event (Day One is open to the public; the second day is for AFA members only) featuring a combination of demos, thought leadership panels, as well as compliance and technical deep dives on the AirFuel Resonant and AirFuel RF open standards.
